I've just came back from a Bible study at Vorentoe Hoerskool. They are about 25 young athletes between 14-18 yrs who stay on the school premises. We have a wonderful open door to build into their lives spiritually, but also in many other ways. One of the girls came to me afterwards and told me that she is struggling with English and has failed her last test, even though she studied very hard for it. I offered to look at her paper and see where she made mistakes and also told her that I'm willing to help her prepare for her next test. While I was saying all of this, I couldn't help but thinking of the irony of the whole situation. English was my WORST subject (okay, after Maths) and I couldn't speak one sentence with confidence until I was in my second year of teaching. And now 95% of my ministry is in English and I'm offering to help a girl with her English! Wow, God is truly amazing and faithful! He is the One making us willing and ABLE to do His will!!
